I am an artist and illustrator brought up in Pennsylvania and Vermont but now living in Yorkshire. I began making art while I was living with New Travellers, creating backdrops for performances and hand-stencilled clothing to sell. Later I learned to work with acrylic on canvas, painting scenes of daily life on the road.
Although I now live in a house, my style is still informed by the psychedelic intensity of festival life, and by a strong connection with the outdoors. I am drawn to the intersection between the ordinary and the extraordinary. I like to paint animals and landscapes using heightened colour and strong light, and magical-realist images, often based on photos taken at festivals.
