CROWS AND CORVIDS
The crow thing started with depression, when I was still in my teens. Other people had a "black dog"; mine was a "black bird".
Over time its meaning shifted, as I realised that the dark stuff in my head wasn't just about lows. There was a corresponding dangerous high; a frantic and out-of-control energy: a source of creativity and wild joy, but also addictions, obsessions, terrible decisions.
Corvids, for me, represent a kind of Shadow in the Jungian sense: a part of myself that's not fully in control, that scares me. That can do a lot of damage when I give in and let it steer.
